Detailed Job Description
Developing and implementing enterprise class applications using C++, C#, Python, and related frameworks
Responsible for the reliability, availability and performance of the platforms and services of our release process.
Public cloud knowledge (specifically AWS).
Drive efficiency and cost reduction by automating manual and repetitive tasks.
Ensures the uptime of business-critical systems meets acceptable standards
Work with product and feature teams to ensure compatibility of releases and maintain customer prevalence under test
Proactively builds operational procedures into the solution
Quickly and safely investigate, manage and resolve system performance issues, software bugs, network/storage failures whilst documenting solutions
Will support Hadoop, SybaseIQ, MySQL, Mongo, and MS SQL Server clusters consisting of many servers, multiple terabytes of data
Continual knowledge sharing, appraising stakeholders of changes, developing and presenting POCs and process documentation uplift
Will analyze source code and server logs
Participates in code/design reviews, testing, maintaining, performance tuning, supporting availability, providing scalability, and ensuring recoverability of key databases
Contributes to efforts related to validating data recovery, data integrity, data quality, and storage/space requirements
Contributes to system audits, capacity planning, defining database security, data backups, data recovery, and issue post-mortems to help drive continuous improvement in practices, processes, and procedures
Develops/maintains reusable technical documentation and operational procedures for areas of responsibility
Works occasional nights and weekends to provide 24x7 coverage of mission-critical production databases, respond to calls for assistance, and performs off-hours database upgrades/data migration tasks as necessary via on-call rota
Preparing technical designs for application development
Practicing standardized development processes to create quality deliverables
Communicating with key stakeholders within the organization to build and deliver product features
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Information Security
3-5 years experience in developer or Dev Ops role
Able to support different geographical locations
Experience in any of these areas would be desirable:
Public Cloud (AWS, Google, or Azure)
Monitoring and alerting tools
VM Telemetry and Monitoring e.g. SiteScope or AppDynamics
Application performance telemetry
Linux/Windows OS and Server deployment
Linux Kernel and command line
C++ C#
SQL Server
CI/CD tools e.g. Jenkins/Team City or AWS Code Pipeline
Networks, routing and security
OS and Database experience
Containerization e.g Docker/Kubernetes and virtualization-VM System Admin.
Configuration management e.g. Puppet or Ansible

Has knowledge of Kanban, DevOps and ITIL principles
Will persevere to find the root-cause of the issues, learn from them and promote feedback loops with stakeholders
Can develop and track metrics, such as: performance, financial or complexity, on proposed or deployed changes
Understands the value of data collation to make data-driven decisions
Can embrace culture change and prove to be adaptable
