Cloud DevOps Systems Administrator needs to:
Interact with a team of Web application Engineers and establish/develop industry best-practices on operations activities: incident management, deployment, monitoring, automation, backups, and resiliency.
Drive projects/technical initiatives
Be proficient in one or more cloud providers, i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP
Be a hands-on engineering manager
Ensure alignment and execution across Development, Support, and Cloud Operations
Participate in the design of architectures that deliver against high standards of functionality, scalability, performance, cost and reliability
Partner with the team to continually evaluate and improve performance
Day-to-day WebOps: turn-up/decommission/configuration of Linux servers, writing scripts or runbooks to ensure repeatable automation, creating new or updated approaches to monitoring, and overall organizational development to support keeping stakeholders in the loop
Security: ability to proactively identify and remediate exposure to current and future vulnerabilities (firewalls, patches, ssh keys, etc)
Routinely handle Tier 1-2 customer issues that arise. These issues often include product bugs, DNS issues, network configuration problems ,and assistance with complex product configurations, performance tuning and optimization and training the customer on unfamiliar features.
Willingness to participate in shared on-call responsibilities.
Responsible for automation of deployments of system changes from development through production.
Responsible for enhancing monitoring and troubleshooting of business processes with tools such as Cloud Reporting tools, NewRelic, Splunk, SumoLogic, App Insights Analytics, etc.
Assists in the development of continuous delivery/continuous integration of systems and software.
Monitor backlog of open tickets and determine trends and opportunities for improvement.
Responsible for the day to day administration and availability of systems and applications.
Works closely with the development teams on issues and general workflow.
Under guidance of senior engineer, support and optimize the existing applications to meet the business requirements.
Monitor performance, disk space, and usage for all servers that support the systems.
Follow the company change control process to implement system and application changes.
Meet with application owners, as directed, to overview any system and data problems; recommend solutions.
Coordinate with system vendors to resolve systems issues in a timely manner.
Ensure the environment is current on service pack, patches, firmware updates, versions, and security fixes.
Communicate task and status updates to team leaders and managers. Assist other teams as needed.
Perform continuous reviews to align technology to process, process improvement, and adherence to standards and best practices.
